Bunkhouse Northumberland

Cheap Accomodation in the Heart of Northumberland

You can expect a friendly welcome from Jimmy and Dawn at the bunkhouse which is located within the Stags Head pub in the picturesque riverside village of Felton. Having used bunk rooms himself Jimmy found that the first thing they would do when arriving at a bunkhouse would be to go in search of food and drink so what could be better than a bunkhouse in a pub.

The village has easy access from the A1 and a bus from Newcastle stops at the door. Although small the village benefits from a shop & post office, cafe, bakery and newsagents, hairdressers ,doctor's surgery and even another pub.

The three bunk rooms which can accommodate up to 20 people benefit from heavy duty bunks designed to suit adults and quality shower facilities. Secure storage is available for luggage. There is a large west facing courtyard which is used for parking and a beer garden.

The bunkhouse is located just off the A1 about 20 miles north of Newcastle.

As well as being a great place to have a weekend break it is also ideal for stopping off at if you are touring or to catch the North Shields to Holland ferry.

The area benefits from superb roads suitable for all styles of riding from sports to touring. If you head inland you will find the Rothbury road which is one of the most popular bikers rides in the area or head to the coast and work your way up to Holy Island. Just watch for the tide with the causeway.

Jimmy is a keen biker and can advise on the best routes. He also has a workshop so if you have problems give him a shout.

The bunkhouse is a short ride from the coastal cycle route and the area benefits from superb country roads which tend to be quieter than other areas. Thrunton woods have developed a series of off road runs for mountain bikes and this is a short drive away. There are routes going off from felton in all directions which will suit you what ever your ability.

We have garages to store your cycle in and washing facilities.

Look no further than Felton for walking breaks. Whether you enjoy distance walking or day walks the area has it all. The St Oswalds Way and Inn Way come through the village and link with the coast route at Warkworth . If you are doing a distance walk we can help with such things as on forwarding of luggage.

There are right of way walks of varying distances going off in all directions from the village. Having 2 collies I have learnt a bit about the local walks!

Coming by public transport? No problem the 505 bus from Newcastle Haymarket bus station drops you off at the door. Just ask for Stags Head Felton. The Newcastle Metro system can be used to get to the Haymarket from the Train station or Airport.
